Winners Announced For 2010-2011 McCormick
Scholarships

SPARKS, Md., Sep 24, 2010 (BUSINESS WIRE) --

Winners of the 2010-2011 McCormick Scholarships were announced by Alan D. Wilson, Chairman, President & Chief Executive Officer of McCormick & Company, Incorporated (NYSE: MKC), the international producer of spices, seasonings, flavorings and specialty foods.

Scholarship winners will receive up to $12,000 per academic year, a potential total of $48,000 while attending an accredited college or university. The amounts of individual awards are determined by provisions of the McCormick Scholarship program. The winners are children of McCormick employees and are chosen by an independent committee of representatives from local colleges and universities.

The program has been granting scholarships for many years and the latest recipients are:

Caitlin Furio of New Freedom, PA

Jessica Rothmeier of Parkton, MD

César Casarez of Irving, TX

Caroline Wensel of Monkton, MD

Caitlin Furio is the daughter of Margaret Furio, Sales Planning Manager for McCormick in Hunt Valley, Maryland. A graduate of Susquehannock High School, Caitlin is a National Merit Scholar as well as an AP scholar. She was a member of the National Honors Society and the National Society for High School Scholars.

Her extracurricular activities included participation in the concert, marching and jazz band, concert choir, church choir, as well as school plays, musicals and membership in the International Thespian Society. In her spare time, Caitlin enjoys writing plays, poetry and fiction, reading, playing the saxophone, piano and guitar, singing and cooking. She attends Boston University.

Jessica Rothmeier is the daughter of Liisa Rothmeier, Director, Process Reliability for McCormick's U.S. Industrial Group (USIG) in Hunt Valley, Maryland. A graduate of Hereford High School, she is a National Merit Scholar, and a Maryland Distinguished Scholar. Jessica is also a member of the National Honor Society, the National Art Honor Society, Tri-M (the Music Honor Society) and Mu Alpha Theta (the National Math Honor Society).

Jessica enjoyed playing in both the Pit Orchestra and the Symphonic Orchestra at her high school. She was also a member of the Girl Scouts of America and was a varsity cross-country runner. Jessica's hobbies include running, drawing, reading, writing and traveling. She attends the University of Maryland, College Park.

César Casarez is the son of Gilberto Casarez, Palletizer Technician Operator at McCormick's Dallas, Texas facility. A graduate of Irving High School, César is a member of the National Honor Society and has received awards for band, science, math, history and for graduating Summa Cum Laude.

César's extracurricular activities include the Modern Music Masters program, the school band and the Literary Criticism Club. In his spare time, he enjoys reading, watching movies and band practice. He attends the University of Houston.

Caroline Wensel is the daughter of Brian Wensel, Facilities Manager at McCormick's Hunt Valley Plant in Hunt Valley, Maryland. A graduate of Carver Center for Arts and Technology, Caroline is an AP Scholar, a Physics Olympian, a member of the National Honor Society as well as the National French Honor Society and a Scholastics Gold Key Recipient.

After playing varsity lacrosse for four years, Caroline was named the 2009/2010 MVP and team captain. This achievement has led her to a position on the Women's intercollegiate lacrosse team at College of Wooster, where she will pursue a bachelor's degree. Her other extra curricular activities include 4-H clubs, equestrian sports, drawing, painting, sculpting and sales and design work in an art gallery.
